Conference and event clients to benefit from Barbican Film in Focus 2017
Bookers from across the conference, meetings and events world are invited to take inspiration from the Barbican Centre’s Film in Focus programming for their own events during 2017.
The power of the moving image and its influence across the arts is celebrated by the Barbican throughout 2017 with Film in Focus - a series of world-class arts and learning projects, commissions and events that celebrate the medium of film.
Event organisers using the Barbican across the year will be able to work with the Business Events team to link the venue’s diverse arts programme to their own events through theming, the use of creative spaces, private screenings and viewings.
The Barbican’s Head of Business Events, Jackie Boughton comments: “The Barbican is world-renowned as both a cutting-edge arts centre and a commercial venue and these sides of the Centre work extremely well together – providing clients with different ways to meet, educate and entertain their customers and colleagues. I am looking forward to seeing how our fantastic arts and learning programme, which includes Film in Focus, will continue to inspire my team to create truly memorable experiences for the many delegates we will welcome to the Barbican in 2017.”
Through festivals, talks, outdoor screenings, innovative staging’s, live soundtracks and commissions, Film in Focus explores the dialogue which exists between film and world-class artists working in every discipline.
· In Conversation with Women in Film, a year-long series of talks dissecting an increasingly topical issue within the film industry
· A residency from American techno pioneer Jeff Mills, including three UK premieres
· What London Watches: Ten Films Which Shook Our World, which invited London’s communities to select the films that mean the most to them
· A major new exhibition - Into the Unknown: A Journey through Science Fiction, a genre-defining exploration of one of popular culture’s most celebrated realms
The Barbican cemented its position amongst the most elite venues in the country through the achievement of AIM Gold in 2014 and again in 2016 - a mark of excellence demonstrating the important traits of compliancy, competency and capability. The accreditation consists of a strict auditing process of rigorous tests, which examine all elements of the business, including planning, customer environment and levels of service.
