Sadlers Wells Events Manager makes 2017 a year for charity
Sadler’s Wells Events Manager Alessio Romani is making 2017 his year of charity after taking part in two high-profile fundraising events.
The most recent event was the London City Selection ‘Ride to Cure’ charity event in which Alessio, representing Sadler’s Wells, joined a team of five other venues from the London City Selection venue consortium to help raise money for research into a cure for type 1 diabetes. The ‘Ride to Cure’ event involved each venue representative cycling on a stationary bike for 8 minutes to see who could cover the furthest distance. The London City Selection team managed to raise £514, surpassing its £500 target.
In addition, Alessio joined two other team members, who he met via Sadler’s Wells, to complete the Virgin Hackney Half Marathon. With a target to raise £600, Alessio completed the 13 miles in 1 hour 40 minutes and exceeded his fundraising target by raising a total of £750. The money raised was donated to Hackney Quest, a charity that supports the community’s young people and families.
The total raised from Alessio’s charitable efforts so far has reached £2,782.
Alessio, comments: “Community building, collaboration and inclusion are among our key values at Sadler’s Wells and both Ride to Cure and the Hackney Half Marathon were my personal way of contributing to two very worthy causes. Taking part in these charity events was a great experience for me and I look forward to the second half of 2017 being just as eventful.”
